Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre is the perfect starting point for fossil hunting on one of the world’s richest Jurassic Coast fossil beaches. This excellent visitor center provides expert guidance, displays of local fossils, geological exhibitions, and educational programs explaining the area’s 185-million-year-old rocks and the fossils they contain. Knowledgeable staff help identify finds, explain fossil hunting ethics and safety, and lead guided fossil hunting walks where participants regularly discover ammonites, belemnites, and other Jurassic treasures. The center’s displays include spectacular local finds, interactive exhibits explaining Jurassic seas, and videos about the geology and paleontology of this World Heritage coastline. A fossil identification service helps visitors understand their discoveries. The shop sells fossil hunting equipment, guides, and local finds. Regular events include guided walks, talks by paleontologists, and family activities. Located directly on Charmouth Beach, the center makes fossil hunting accessible, safe, and educational for all ages. Essential visit before exploring this fossil-rich coastline.
