The Etches Collection is a stunning modern museum showcasing one of Britain’s finest collections of Jurassic marine fossils, entirely discovered by local paleontologist Dr Steve Etches along the Kimmeridge coastline. This remarkable museum houses over 2,000 spectacular specimens including ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and rare soft-tissue fossils preserved in extraordinary detail. The beautifully designed gallery brings the Jurassic seas to life through interactive displays, fossil preparation demonstrations, and life-sized reconstructions. Each fossil tells a story of the ancient ocean that covered Dorset 150 million years ago. The museum offers fossil identification services, children’s activities, and regular talks from Dr Etches himself. Located in the picturesque village of Kimmeridge, it’s the perfect complement to fossil hunting on the nearby beaches.
