Tutankhamun Exhibition

The Tutankhamun Exhibition in Dorchester recreates the thrilling 1922 discovery of the boy pharaoh’s tomb by Howard Carter. Established in 1987, this permanent exhibition features exact facsimile reproductions of Tutankhamun’s treasures using original materials including gold. Highlights include the iconic Golden Mask, the elaborate Golden Throne, and an extraordinary anatomical recreation of Tutankhamun’s mummy that took over two years to produce using x-rays and measurements. Walk through atmospheric tomb chambers, marvel at jeweled artifacts, and discover the story behind one of archaeology’s greatest finds. While not displaying actual Egyptian artifacts, the meticulous craftsmanship brings ancient Egypt vividly to life.
