Tout Quarry Sculpture Park is a unique outdoor art gallery where contemporary stone sculptures emerge from a disused Portland limestone quarry. This remarkable sculpture park features over 60 artworks carved directly into the quarry’s rock faces and floors by local and international artists since 1983. Sculptures range from abstract forms to figurative works, animals, faces, and intricate patterns, creating an extraordinary fusion of industrial heritage, natural landscape, and contemporary art. Visitors can wander freely through the quarry discovering sculptures hidden among vegetation, carved into cliff faces, or integrated into the rocky terrain. The site demonstrates how human-altered landscapes can be transformed into cultural assets. Information panels explain the sculptures and Portland stone’s importance – this limestone built St Paul’s Cathedral and countless iconic British buildings. The quarry’s industrial archaeology, diverse wildlife, wildflowers, and sea views add layers of interest. Free entry and relaxed atmosphere make art accessible to everyone. A truly special place blending art, industry, nature, and geology.
