The Tivoli Theatre is Wimborne’s historic community theatre, a beautifully restored Edwardian playhouse on West Borough. Originally opened in 1936 as a cinema, the building was lovingly converted to a live theatre in 1979 by dedicated volunteers who continue to run it today. The intimate 300-seat auditorium hosts diverse programming including touring productions, local amateur dramatics, comedy, music, dance, and cinema screenings. The theatre maintains traditional charm with modern technical facilities. As a volunteer-run venue, the Tivoli exemplifies community spirit and cultural commitment. Its varied programme ensures something for all tastes from Shakespeare to pantomime. The theatre contributes significantly to Wimborne’s cultural life, providing entertainment and a venue for local talent. An essential part of the town’s social fabric.
