Clouds Hill is the intimate and atmospheric cottage retreat of T.E. Lawrence, the legendary ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. This tiny isolated dwelling in the heart of Dorset woodland was where Lawrence sought privacy and solace after his extraordinary Arabian adventures and military service. The cottage remains remarkably unchanged since his death in 1935, with rooms furnished exactly to his personal taste featuring gramophone, books, and simple military-style furnishings. The book room and music room reflect his intellectual pursuits and love of classical music. Visitors can explore the small garden and woodland paths he walked while contemplating his memoirs. Managed by the National Trust, Clouds Hill offers a rare, personal insight into one of the 20th century’s most enigmatic figures. The nearby St Nicholas Church in Moreton contains his memorial window and grave.
