Eype Beach

Eype Beach is a hidden gem – a quiet, unspoilt shingle beach offering a peaceful alternative to busier West Bay. This beautiful stretch of coast sits beneath dramatic golden cliffs and offers excellent coastal walking, fossil hunting, and tranquil seaside relaxation. The beach features clean shingle with patches of sand at low tide, rock pools to explore, and stunning cliff scenery in both directions. Fossils including ammonites can be found among the pebbles, while the cliffs reveal fascinating geological layers. The beach is backed by a small, attractive hamlet with limited facilities, preserving its peaceful character. Eype’s Mouth Hotel provides refreshments and accommodation overlooking the beach. The South West Coast Path runs along the clifftops, offering spectacular walks to Seatown, Golden Cap, or West Bay. The relatively difficult access keeps crowds away, ensuring Eype remains wonderfully tranquil even in peak season. Spectacular sunsets, clean air, and beautiful scenery make this a favorite with those seeking authentic, unspoilt Dorset coast.
