Seatown is a charming shingle beach nestled beneath the dramatic Golden Cap cliffs, offering excellent fossil hunting, stunning coastal scenery, and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. This unspoilt beach sits at the base of England’s highest coastal cliff, creating spectacular views and a dramatic backdrop. The beach is renowned for fossil hunting, with ammonites, belemnites, and other Jurassic treasures regularly found among the pebbles and in the clay cliffs. Fascinating geological features include exposed rock strata telling millions of years of Earth’s history. The beach is quieter than many Dorset destinations, perfect for peaceful walks, beachcombing, and nature watching. Dolphins and seals are occasionally spotted offshore. The South West Coast Path passes through Seatown, providing access to stunning clifftop walks in both directions. A seasonal beach café and the Anchor Inn provide refreshments. Limited facilities and difficult access keep crowds away, preserving Seatown’s tranquil character. Low tide reveals rock pools teeming with marine life.
